People who are overweight and severely obese are prone to suffer health problems. This is aside from the discomfort, inability to perform common taks and having an inactive lifestyle. Since obese people are unhealthy people, illnesess and various diseases can be acquired easily by the body. Some of these diseases if left untreated may cause hospitalization and even death. That is why most obese people have shorter life expectancy.

It is also noted that obesity causes low level of good cholesterol in the body. Adults who are obese are twice as likely to have high blood pressure.
Joint disease and disorder are also common. Osteoarthritis usually affects the joints in the knees, hips, and lower back.Too much weight exerted into these joints wears away the tissues that served as cushions. Gout is another problem caused by high level of uric acid in the blood. The uric acid are deposited in the joints when it forms into crystals. These are usually painful.
Sleep apnea is a condition where a person suffers from a short stop in breathing during sleep. They snore heavily and can lead to daytime sleepiness and the worst is heart failure. Obese people has a higher risk of having sleep apnea. Gallbladder stones are also attributed to being an overweight.
Obesity can also cause irregular menstrual cycles, complications in pregnancy and infertility. The long list of possible complications that could happen in an obese individual should serve as a warning to them. Once you were able to determine that you are already an overweight or obese, talk to your health care professional immediately. Do not wait to let these complications ruin your life.
